Presenting the Queen of Halloween: Galen Green

At Green Cottage, there’s one member of our store family that loves Halloween most of all. It's only fitting to hand the curatorial reigns of this week's email to our resident Halloween Queen...Galen Green.

Everyone at Green Cottage LOVES Halloween. But I must say that I’m probably the only one of us who dreams of it all year long.

For a few years Dennis and David, the rest of the Green Cottage crew and assorted friends, hosted a large and impressive dance party where the decorations were elaborate, spooky activities were orchestrated and costumes were taken extremely seriously. And the whole grand soirée had to be outdone each year. Eventually we all became exhausted.

Halloween for me has become a smaller affair...I usually crochet a costume, have a celebratory dinner, and maybe a living room dance party with perhaps a dozen friends. This year, with trick or treating canceled, parties verboten and even a modestly sized gathering feeling out of the question, I was becoming despondent. I considered breaking with tradition and, shudder, truly doing nothing to celebrate my most beloved holiday.

Then my partner, David (yes, every other person affiliated with the shop is named David), came up with a plan. We will dress up as parasitic wasps and so outfitted (but with sensible shoes) we’ll go exploring the woods and caves behind our house after dark, returning in time to have a cocktail with neighbors over a bonfire.

Simple, lovely and creepy.
